TITLE: Mindfulness-Based Performance and Health Optimization Specialist
Ford Dyke is a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Kinesiology and Team USA Athlete. Dr. Dyke specializes in Performance and Exercise Psychophysiology and is a subject-matter expert in Mindfulness-Based Performance and Health Optimization© His initiative has reached over 2,500 individuals, impacting local, regional, national and international organizations. Target audiences are comprised of diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses including, but not limited to, academic units, athletic organizations, military installations and professional partnerships.
Dr. Dyke’s involvement with Adaptive Sports began in 2012 as a Graduate Assistant for the inaugural intercollegiate wheelchair basketball team at Auburn University. Throughout the four- year position, he assisted as the Strength and Conditioning Coach. Dr. Dyke has collaborated with Head Coach Robb Taylor since 2016 facilitating Mindfulness-Based Performance and Health Optimization© services for student-athletes in support of their academic and athletic performance. The initiative implements the Pillars of Health (Respiration, Hydration, Movement and Recovery) to optimize performance, health and well-being.
Currently, Dr. Dyke is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Auburn University. Among his accomplishments, he was awarded the 2019 Undergraduate Teaching Award; and nominated for the 2020 Outstanding Faculty Outreach Award and 2020 Outstanding Young Alumni Award. In the School of Kinesiology, his courses include Pillars of Health, Motor Learning and Performance, and Performance-Based Psychology. Additionally, Dr. Dyke’s research program focuses on the effects of outdoor exercise environments on neurocognitive functioning in both non-clinical and clinical populations.
As an academician and elite athlete, Dr. Dyke is proficient at interfacing with members from various backgrounds and sports. With his roots in the seaside community of Jupiter Beach, Florida, he remains mindful of the soil of the land, an ocean breeze and waves breaking upon the sand.
